Mesh (band)

Mesh are an English synthpop band from Bristol, England, formed in 1991.
==Background==
In 1991, Mark Hockings (vocals, guitars, keyboards, programming, lyrics) and Richard Silverthorn (keyboards, programming) met at a gig where Silverthorn's band was playing. They were soon joined by Neil Taylor (keyboards, programming), a former band-mate of Silverthorn, and continued as Mesh with this line up until 2006.
On 13 September 2006, Taylor announced that he was leaving the band to pursue other interests, saying "15 years is a long time and for me the time has come to move on and I need to give some headspace to other things in life".〔() 〕 Hockings and Silverthorn have stated their desire to continue making music as Mesh. The band recruited keyboardist Geoff Pinckney (Toffeetones Records) to act as a replacement for Taylor during their live performances.
Mesh have created a number of remixes, including a remix of the Apoptygma Berzerk song, "Mourn", for that group's 2006 cover album, ''Sonic Diary''.
On 8 January 2009, ''Side-Line'' magazine reported that the band were working hard in their studio in Bristol, writing and recording their new album describing the sound as 'Grittier and more Rockier than before'.
3 November 2009 saw the release of their tenth album "A Perfect Solution" which featured a more synth gritty rock sound rather than previous ones, it spawned two singles, first single "Only Better" (which a promotional video was made for) followed by second single "How Long".
Two years later, the band released "An Alternative Solution" which contains all tracks remixes of their latest album by bands including Zeromancer and Assemblage 23.
On 26 August 2011 the band announced via Twitter that Geoff Pinckney "will no longer be playing live with mesh".
On 5 September 2011 the band announced via their website that work had commenced on their next album, the follow-up to ''A Perfect Solution'' (2009). On 20 November 2011 they announced via Twitter that they are still working on the album, everything is going well and they are pleased with the results.
On 28 September 2012, the new album "Automation Baby" was announced with a release date of mid-February 2013.〔()〕 The lead single was confirmed a month later as "Born to Lie", with a release date of 18 January. "Automation Baby" was released 15 March 2013〔() 〕 and entered the German Media Control Charts at rank 33 on 27 March.
